Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Education is proud to announce the fifth annual Tennessee School Counselor and Administrator Leadership Institute beginning next week in Murfreesboro. This year’s theme, “The 360 Approach: Educating the Whole Child,” addresses the critical need of ensuring that our students are both college- and career-ready.
Approximately 1500 Pre-kindergarten to post-secondary professional school counselors, counselor educators, graduate students, and K-12 school and district administrators will be attending break-out sessions over the course of two days to learn about new community resources, products, books and curriculum that can be taken back to schools and classrooms.
“Schools counselors play a critical role in the success of every child and of the Tennessee Diploma Project in our school systems,” Education Commissioner Timothy Webb said. “This is a partnership between all school staff to support our students and ensure their well-being.”
Tennessee Department of Education staff will recognize 60 school districts for outstanding work in school counseling and several schools recognized for Best Practices in Character Education during the Monday evening session.
