Press Release from Zach Wamp for Governor; July 7, 2010:
Memphis, Tenn. – Zach Wamp, Republican for Governor, announced today that his campaign has collected more than $4 million in campaign receipts to advance his momentum and to fund important campaign advertisements leading into early voting and the August 5th Republican primary.
“I am deeply grateful for the strong financial support I have received from every corner of our state, Wamp said. “We still have more to raise, but thanks to the generous support from so many, we are now ready to win this race and move our state forward.”
Wamp does not have to file his official campaign finance report until next Monday, July 12, but shared his updated contribution total with reporters in Memphis today.
“While one of my opponents has been spending money as fast as he can in an effort to buy this race, we have managed our campaign like we will manage the state — carefully and conservatively, watching our budget and spending each dollar wisely,” Wamp said. “So we feel good that with just a little more help at several of our remaining July fundraising events, that we will fully fund our campaign budget and win this race,” Wamp said.
Often called the “Region’s Mayor” by U.S. Sen. Bob Corker, Wamp’s work to promote a regional approach to economic development in the Tennessee Valley Technology Corridor has led to many of the state’s biggest economic wins in recent years right in his congressional district.
These include Volkswagen and Wacker Chemie in the Chattanooga area, new missions and investments in Oak Ridge, new bio-fuel, nuclear and solar energy investments throughout the region, and thousands of growing small business jobs generated from these and other related manufacturing investments. As governor, Wamp will take his leadership in economic development and new job creation to the rest of Tennessee.
