Press Release from the Tennessee Republican Party, July 15, 2010:
NASHVILLE, TN – Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to be in Nashville today to keynote the Tennessee Democratic Party’s annual Jackson Day event.
“We welcome Vice President Biden to a state that he and President Obama lost by 15 percentage points in the 2008 elections,” said Tennessee Republican Party Chairman Chris Devaney. “On the day that early primary voting begins in Tennessee, a visit from VP Biden couldn’t be a better reminder to voters of Democrats’ big-spending, big-government, job-killing agenda advocated by this Administration.
“Regarding his observing flood damage, it is difficult to see his tour as much more than a public relations stunt considering he was scheduled to headline this fundraiser 44 days before the floods even occurred,” continued Devaney. “Whatever his intentions, the perception is that it was donor checks that got him to Nashville, not the sincere desire to reach out to Tennesseans who were affected by these historic floods.
“With Democrats facing an uphill battle this November, it’s amazing they’re going to parade a cast of characters who are on a downhill slide,” continued Devaney. “Polls show that people like Vice President Biden, former Vice President Al Gore, and the lone Democrat running for Governor in Tennessee are facing stark unpopularity. And that’s why we’re looking forward to the TNDP’s annual Jackson Day rally.”
