Democratic candidate for governor Mike McWherter says he’ll have one last TV ad for voters to consider, close on the heels of of Republican Bill Haslam’s apparent final campaign-season offering.
“We have one in the can that we may very well be putting out before the end of the week. I don’t know. We’ll wait and see exactly what the polling shows as we go towards the end of this week,” he told reporters in Nashville after speaking at the Complete College Tennessee Summit Tuesday morning.
He wouldn’t reveal what topics the political commercial would touch upon.
He added that he will have run a $3 million campaign by the time everything is said and done on the Nov. 2 election day. His campaign has spent about $1.5 million since he launched his candidacy, according to his campaign disclosures complete through September. He would then double his spending from the entire campaign season during the last month before the election.
Haslam has so far reported spending nearly $12.4 million this campaign, according to his disclosures. Both candidates are expected to release a full record of their recent campaign finances by the end of the day Tuesday.
