Haslam Wants Every Vote He Can Get

In his last stop of the campaign, Republican Bill Haslam told reporters he doesn’t need a blowout win — just more votes than Democrat Mike McWherter.

“We want to win,” he told reporters in Brentwood Tuesday at his final campaign stop. “At this point in time, we’re looking to get every vote we can.”

And, if he is elected governor Tuesday, he said the first thing he’ll do on Wednesday is begin making decisions about who his cabinet members will be.

The Knoxville Mayor also reacted to last-minute criticism from McWherter that he is being vague on his state budget solutions because he may secretly be planning to propose an income tax.
