Gov. Phil Bredesen’s top budget negotiator is calling it quits this week with plans to begin working at Ingenix, a health care information technology and services company.
Finance and Administration Commissioner Dave Goetz, who joined the administration early in Bredesen’s gubernatorial career, was chiefly involved in hashing out yearly state budget proposals and working out the details with legislative leaders in the Senate and House of Representatives.
The commissioner will step down at the end of the week, according to a state of Tennessee press release, about two months before lame duck Bredesen leaves office.
Bredesen has not named a replacement, although much of his duties includes ironing out budget proposals, and the next budget is up to Governor-elect Bill Haslam.
