Representative Curry Todd Named Outstanding Legislator for 2011 by Tennessee PTA
(April 12, 2011, NASHVILLE) – Last weekend, at the 2011 Tennessee Parent Teacher Association convention in Nashville, Representative Curry Todd (R—Collierville) was recognized as the 2011 Sigrid Stewart Outstanding Legislator of the Year.
Rep. Todd, Chairman of the House State & Local Committee, was presented with the award because of his active involvement with education issues at the State and local level. The PTA noted that Rep. Todd has been a fixture at PTA meetings, school board meetings, and community meetings since the mid-1990s. He is a constant supporter for schools, teachers, parents, and students.
After receiving the award, Rep. Todd stated, “It is an honor to be recognized by the Tennessee PTA. Their group represents thousands of parents, teachers, and administrators around the Volunteer State. It has been a pleasure working with the PTA to find common ground on some of the most important issues facing education in Tennessee. They know the long-term success of Tennessee depends on every child having access to a quality education, active involvement from parents, and leadership in the classroom from high quality teachers,” He continued, “I look forward to continuing our great relationship and partnering with them to raise the standards for student achievement in our State.”
