(Nashville) — “A New Beginning” Job Fair will be held this Saturday, announced state Rep. Brenda Gilmore this week. “We’re asking that any ex-offenders in the community that are looking for a new job to come by Saturday,” Gilmore said. “Anyone interested should bring their resume, dress to impress employers and be prepared for on-the-spot interviews.” The event will be held at Hartman Park, 2801 Tucker Road in Nashville, Saturday April 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees will also be able to learn about record expungement, restoration of voting rights, housing opportunities, driver license restoration, available legal services, and G.E.D. programs, Gilmore said. “This is a wonderful program we’ve put together that we know will help so many of our family members and friends that have had legal problems in the past,” Gilmore said. The program is sponsored by Gilmore, Councilwoman Erica Gilmore, The McGruder Family Resource Center and the NAACP.

I comend you for trying to help Felone re-enter their communities and our society.
As a Felon I have struggled with getting any company to give me a chance to prove myself to them.
That being said ,I think your choice for the event want poor. there was virtually no parking for the turn out that ensued…and the list of companies and the hand outs ,could have easily been posted on a site for all to view and contact employers saving on the congestion also saving time ,gas and not conflicting with the Easter Egg hunt….also to help those with out a computer hook up, I’m sure one of our mega Churches could have provided a location with ample parking….and gotten their message out at the same time…please send me any links to business that hire and info on the record expungment process…keep up the good work….we are your Fathers and Sons Mothers and Daughters and fellow AMERICANS. THANK YOU MARK

I live in Columbia, Tn and did not hear about the job fair unitl today. I was hoping you could email me the employers that were connected with the fresh start. It would mean so much to me, I’m a single mother of three and it has been so hard on my family with this old felony. It has been weighing me down for years, I’m in desperate need in a second chance.
    Thank you.
