Press Release from the Tennessee Center for…er, Beacon Center of Tennessee, Sept. 21, 2011:
NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Center for Policy Research, the state’s leading free market advocate, today announced that it will become the Beacon Center of Tennessee. The Beacon Center’s rejuvenated mission will be to light the way for freedom and prosperity across the Volunteer State.
The newly-named Beacon Center, founded seven years ago as the Tennessee Center for Policy Research, has grown to become the premier public policy organization in the state, promoting solutions grounded in free markets, individual liberty, and limited government.
The Center has recently obtained several significant victories, playing a key role in ushering in lawsuit abuse reform, repealing collective bargaining by unions, and protecting Tennesseans’ healthcare rights. These victories prove that the organization can lead the way to make Tennessee the freest, most prosperous state in the nation. Its rebranding efforts seek to capitalize on these successes, reaching more Tennesseans with its message.
As the state’s leading advocate for freedom and prosperity, the organization realized that it needed to better explain its role and how its work positively affects the lives and pocketbooks of Tennesseans. The rebranding effort launched today does just that.
“We are responsible for ensuring that policy solutions are fully researched, analyzed, and explained to citizens to give them a greater voice and more control over the process,” said President & CEO Justin Owen. “Our message of liberty is shared by Tennesseans all across our state, but our name made it difficult for us to fully explain how we fulfill our mission. As the Beacon Center of Tennessee, we will tap into the passion and energy of Tennesseans who want to improve their lives and the lives of their families.”
The Beacon Center’s focus moving forward will be to tell the personal stories of Tennesseans from Mountain City to Memphis, shining light on government policy and showing how it impacts Tennesseans from all walks of life.
“The new brand will signal to all Tennesseans that we are the go-to source for sound public policy,” said John Cerasuolo, chairman of the Board. “This will allow us to truly light the way for freedom and prosperity in our state.”
The Beacon Center of Tennessee will remain an independent, nonprofit, and nonpartisan organization dedicated to providing concerned citizens, policymakers, and the media with timely free market solutions to public policy issues in Tennessee. The organization’s new website is www.BeaconTN.org.
