Press release from the Tennessee House Republican Caucus; May 24, 2012:
NASHVILLE, Tenn.—On the heels of a successful 2012 legislative session, Representative Debra Maggart (R—Hendersonville) yesterday was presented with a prestigious award for her commitment to pro-economic growth policies in Tennessee.
The Tennessee Business Roundtable presented Maggart with their 2012 Courageous Leadership Award at their quarterly Board of Directors meeting held at Belmont University. The award was given to Maggart because of her leadership in fighting for initiatives that will help create jobs in Tennessee.
“Government doesn’t create jobs. It paves the way for job creation in the private sector by eliminating regulations, lowering taxes, and ensuring a consistent environment is in place here in Tennessee,” stated Maggart, who also serves as the House Republican Caucus Chairwoman. “My constituents told me they wanted job growth and economic development to be at the top of the legislative agenda. I’m proud to say we have kept that promise and we are going to continue focusing on ways to help Tennesseans have more money in their pocketbooks and more job opportunities.”
Ellen Thornton, the Executive Director of the Tennessee Business Roundtable, stated, “This award is a reflection of Representative Maggart’s commitment to actively ensuring Tennessee remains a business friendly state. She believes the business community is the key to restoring Tennessee’s economy and we are proud of her courageous leadership in implementing pro-business policy.”
The Tennessee Business Roundtable, an organization of senior level business leaders, seeks to collaborate with state government and Tennessee’s business organizations to develop and implement policy supporting business and economic growth in Tennessee.
