TNGOP Praises Governor Haslam’s Bold “Tennessee Promise,” Vision for the State
Haslam State of the State Address Reaffirms Governor’s Commitment to Making Tennessee the Number One Destination for High Quality Jobs
NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Governor Bill Haslam tonight unveiled his budget blueprint for the next year, along with some ambitious proposals to keep Tennessee’s positive momentum going, during the annual State of the State Address before a Joint Meeting of the General Assembly.
“From his first day in office, Governor Haslam has had an ambitious goal of making Tennessee the number one destination for high quality jobs in the Southeast,” said Tennessee Republican Party Chairman Chris Devaney. “Tonight, the Governor laid out a bold, yet realistic, proposal to get us there. The ‘Tennessee Promise’ has the potential to be another initiative that sets Tennessee apart from other states.”
“It is refreshing to hear a thoughtful idea put forth, how it will work, and how it will be paid for—a skill that is all too often lacking in Democrat-controlled Washington. Over the last three years, we have attained a number of top rankings in job growth, education, and budgeting. Governor Haslam wants more of that. And, by working with our Republican legislators, Tennessee’s Reformer-in-Chief will ensure it continues,” concluded Devaney.
