Press release from Mary Mancini for Tennessee Senate, June 12, 2014:
Mancini has asked opponent for series of six town hall debates
Nashville, Tenn. (June 12, 2014) – Mary Mancini, candidate for state senate, sent a letter to her opponent Jeff Yarbro today asking for a series of six town hall-style debates before their August 8th primary election for the District 21 Democratic nomination.
“Four years ago, when Jeff ran the first time, he asked Senator Doug Henry to hold a series of debates”, says Mancini, “those debates didn’t happen but together we can make sure the voters hear from both candidates this time.” The Democratic primary in district 21 is one of the most watched races in Nashville this summer. “The voters in District 21 deserve to see both candidates and hear their questions answered directly by each of us,” Mancini said.
Having voted overwhelmingly for President Obama in the 2012 election, state senate district 21 is seen a safe Democratic district. Political observers believe that the candidate who wins in August will go on to win in November and likely become a leader in the Democratic Senate caucus. .
Mary Mancini is a candidate for senate in district 21 and is endorsed by Democracy for America, Women for Tennessee’s Future, Progressive Majority, SEIU Local 205 and Women’s Campaign Fund.
