CoverKids Grants Dental Benefits Manager Contract to DentaQuest

NASHVILLE – The CoverKids program has selected DentaQuest USA Insurance Company as the Dental Benefits Manager (DBM) for the Children’s Health Insurance Program.  The five-year contract was awarded on November 19, 2014, with an effective date of January 2, 2015.  There will be a six-month transitional period and the delivery of services will begin July 1, 2015, which is the start of the new fiscal year.

DentaQuest is responsible for administering dental benefits to more than 65,000 children enrolled in the CoverKids program.  CoverKids is designed for uninsured children age 18 and younger whose families earn within 250 percent of the federal poverty level ($59,625 annually for a family of four) and who are not TennCare eligible.

The contract with DentaQuest is a five-year full risk contract.  DentaQuest also currently serves as the DBM for the TennCare program.

DentaQuest is the largest Medicaid dental benefits administrator in the United States providing dental services at a lower cost to more than 22 million recipients in 28 states on behalf of ten state agencies and more than 85 health plans, prior to being awarded this contract.
