AFP-TN Re-launches Radio Campaign in Opposition to Insure TN

Press release from Americans for Prosperity – Tennessee; March 27, 2015:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Americans for Prosperity Tennessee, with more 30,000 activists across the state, has re-launched a radio campaign to stop legislative action intended to expand Obamacare in the state. Radio ads, social media and grassroots activism led by AFP-TN was a significant factor in the defeat of the Insure Tennessee plan during the special legislative session earlier this year. The renewed run of radio ads will air across Tennessee beginning on Monday, March 30, 2015.

“Less than two months after the defeat of the Obamacare expansion plan in a special legislative session, advocates are back again, so Americans for Prosperity Tennessee will once again inform taxpayers in Tennessee of the real costs of this legislation and the burdens it will impose for decades to come if passed into law,” noted Andrew Ogles, AFP-TN state director. “We led the fight to block Obamacare from expanding before and we are committed to stopping it now.”

The new AFP-TN radio spots also point out Insure Tennessee is Obamacare despite advocates’ claims otherwise.

“It is authorized by the Obamacare legislation, funded through Obamacare, must be approved by the Obama Administration and terminating it must be approved by the Obama Administration, yet the advocates persist in denying that it is what it is,” said Ogles. “The Tennessee Attorney General himself has written a legal opinion confirming that Insure Tennessee is in fact an expansion of Obamacare.”

As to statements by Governor Bill Haslam that the plan won’t cost Tennessee taxpayers “one dime”, Ogles pointed out that President Obama said the exact same thing about Obamacare when he was seeking to pass it. “At least one government study revealed the administrative costs alone to be paid by Tennessee taxpayers is at least $15 million dollars,” Ogles stated. “That is a lot of dimes.”

The script for the AFP TN “Remember” radio spot:

“Remember when the liberals in Washington passed Obamacare, without a single conservative, on a one-sided partisan vote?  They made a lot of promises.  [OBAMA: “if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor. If you like your health care plan you can keep it.”]

We were told they had to pass the bill so we could “find out what was in it”. Boy, did we find out what was in it. Now some in Tennessee are doing the exact same thing, and making similar promises, as they try to expand Obamacare. Americans for Prosperity is working to prevent that expansion. Join AFP in the fight to stop Obamacare in Tennessee!

Obamacare has been a disaster. Expanding Obamacare in Tennessee will be the same. In two years, when the so-called “free” federal money runs out hundreds of thousands of our family, friends and neighbors will lose coverage. We can’t afford it.

Join Americans for Prosperity in the fight to stop Obamacare in Tennessee. Call your legislators TODAY and urge them to STOP Obamacare. To learn more go to afptn.org. That’s AFPTN.ORG.

Paid for by Americans for Prosperity.”
