‘Harris has proven himself as a committed, tireless advocate for working people’
NASHVILLE – Senate Minority Leader Lee Harris will receive the AFL-CIO Legislative Leadership Award at the union’s annual banquet tonight.
“In just one year as Senate Minority Leader, Lee Harris has proven himself as a committed and tireless advocate for working people across the state,” said A.J. Starling, secretary and treasurer for the Tennessee AFL-CIO. “We know that we can rely on him to put working people first when considering legislation before the General Assembly.”
Sen. Harris will receive the award at the AFL-CIO Labor Council’s Twenty-Ninth Biennial Convention Awards Banquet at 7 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Franklin.
“I am honored to represent hard working people in the state Senate, and to be recognized by the AFL-CIO,” Sen. Harris said. “Working people need a voice in the state legislature, and I want to thank the AFL-CIO for their hard work year after year looking out for Tennessee families.
