TNDP Chair: Jeb Bush ‘Terrible for Hardworking Americans,’ Ben Carson ‘the Worst of the Worst of the Republican Presidential Field’

Press release from the Tennessee Democratic Party, Oct.9, 2015:

Tennessee Democratic Party Chair Mary Mancini has released the following statement ahead of Jeb Bush’s visit to Knoxville:

“Jeb Bush would be terrible for hardworking Americans. His history of failure as the Governor of Florida are legendary. He failed school children when he ignored the will of voters who passed a constitutional amendment to lower classroom sizes, he failed hardworking Floridians when he used their tax dollars to fund for-profit schools with no public oversight, and he failed them again by spending $1.3 billion on job subsidies to large corporations which resulted in fewer than 1,400 jobs.

So it comes as no surprise that he believes the answer to a family being left behind by a failing economy is that they work longer hours and that he would rather see seniors struggle in retirement than work to preserve what he call their “entitlement” – Social Security. Even more frightening is his dismissal of the school shooting in Oregon with a cavalier “stuff happens.”

Governor Jeb Bush’s unique brand of nonchalance and his lack of support of common sense policies that would promote opportunity for all is a Bush family trait and it offends the very fabric of American culture and will harm the American people.”

Mancini has released the following statement ahead of GOP Presidential candidate Ben Carson’s visit to Tennessee:

“As a neurosurgeon, Ben Carson should know more than any other GOP presidential candidate that access to affordable and quality health care is crucial for the 17 million Americans who have already been covered under the Affordable Care Act. Yet, he continues to attack it. Not surprising, really, since Dr. Carson dismisses any forward thinking policy designed for hardworking Americans and their families, like raising the minimum wage, Social Security, and an affordable college education.

Ben Carson is the worst of the worst of the Republican Presidential field. His divisive rhetoric offends the very fabric of American culture and his lack of support of common sense policies will harm the American people.”
