Tennessee Commerce and Insurance Commissioner Julia McPeak discusses the Affordable Care Act’s impact on private health coverage. McPeak made these comments following a budget hearing for her agency before Gov. Bill Haslam on Dec. 2. According to a statement from the department sent to TNReport.com on Dec. 3, around 3,400 people in Tennessee have received notification in 2014 that their health coverage polices are being terminated. An additional 50,000 individual policies will be terminated in 2015 “as carriers transition blocks of existing business to fully ACA-compliant plans,” according to a department spokesman.
