Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam spoke with reporters about his new health and wellness initiative for Tennesseans Wednesday in Chattanooga at Blue Cross Blue Shield following a press conference where he outlined the program. “It was discouraging yesterday when the national report on childhood obesity came out, and the nation as a whole is getting better on that, but Tennessee was one of the few states that went backwards,” Haslam said. “One of things we’re doing is launching this statewide campaign to focus on exercising more — five times a week, 30 minutes a day of some type of movement, eating better and either not using or not starting to use tobacco. Those three things, we think can make a world of difference.” For more on this story, please visit http://tnreport.com/2013/08/06/new-haslam-initiative-aims-to-get-tennesseans-in-shape/.
