Appointed to the Supreme Court in 2007 by Democratic Gov. Bredesen, Koch began serving as an appellate judge in 1984. Koch, 67, announced last December that he would be leaving the Supreme Court before the official end of his eight-year term. He will be moving on to become dean of the Nashville School of Law. Koch was replaced on the state high court by Jeffrey Bivins, whom Gov. Bill Haslam named to the the seat last spring.
