NASHVILLE – Tennessee Governor-elect Bill Haslam today named Rebecca Hunter as Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Human Resources.
Hunter was Director of Human Resources for Hamilton County, serving there for the past six years. Previously she was Financial Management director for Hamilton County for 12 years.
She is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Government Financial Manager. She is also a Senior Professional in Human Resources.
“I want to welcome Rebecca Hunter to what I believe is an outstanding team of professionals here to serve Tennessee,” Haslam said. “Rebecca has the ground-level experience with Human Resources to help us become more efficient and effective.”
Hunter is very active in professional organizations and the community. She is a member of the University of Tennesse, Chattanooga Human Resources Advisory Committee. She is also a member of the National Association of Counties Deferred Compensation Advisory Committee and Chair of the Audit Supervisory Committee for the Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union.
She is Chair of the HealthCare 21 Business Coalition and Commissioner with the Hixson Utility District.
“I am truly honored and humbled at this wonderful opportunity to serve the citizens of the State of Tennessee, and I look forward to working with Gov.-elect Haslam and his staff on the challenges facing our state,” Hunter said.
Hunter has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga.
She is married to David Hunter, and they have a daughter, Rachel Kile, and son-in-law, Jason Kile.
