TN Health Dept. Unveils New Healthy Living Magazine

Press release from the Tennessee Department of Health; December 9, 2014:

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Health has introduced a new, free magazine to help people across the state discover better health and happier lives. Thrive: Living Well in Tennessee is now available at public libraries, city and county health departments, state parks and other locations, and in a digital version for online viewing.

The reader-friendly magazine features news and information about recreational opportunities, healthy foods, fitness, illness prevention and other topics to help more Tennesseans enjoy better lives. Tennessee Department of Health Commissioner John Dreyzehner, MD, MPH, said the publication is focused on helping people thrive in a state brimming with opportunities for physical activity, healthy food and more fun.

“We recognized some Tennesseans may not be aware of abundant opportunities across our state to help them on their paths to better health,” Dreyzehner said. “Local farmers producing healthier foods, great state and national parks, music and entertainment that stimulate the brain – all of these can make residents healthier. We hope the information and photography will inspire and entertain as readers become stronger, fitter and happier.”

The magazine was co-created with Journal Communications, Inc., a Franklin, Tenn.-based publisher that also produces Ag Insider magazine for the Tennessee Department of Agriculture. Both magazines are funded by advertisers who supply healthy products and reputable services in the state.

The digital version of Thrive is available on the Department of Health’s website
