TBI Encouraging Tennesseans to Drop Off ‘Unwanted Drugs’

Press release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation; April 25, 2012:

Nashville, Tenn. – On Saturday April 28, 2012, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation will have a collection point at TBI Headquarters in Nashville, Tenn. to participate in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The free event will be held from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm for those who have missed previous events or accumulated expired, unused and unwanted prescription medications.

The public is welcome to drop off prescription drugs for safe disposal which would otherwise be potentially dangerous if left in a medicine cabinet. Last October 2011, more than 377,000 pounds of prescription medications were collected nationwide at 5,327 take-back sites across the country. This initiative addresses a public health and safety issue to help prevent the diversion and the improper disposal of prescription drugs. People can drop off unwanted drugs anonymously by going to the TBI Headquarters located at 901 R.S. Gass Blvd. Nashville, Tenn.
